The Challenge
TAFE NSW operates a large portfolio of campuses across New South Wales, each with buildings constructed over several decades running disparate BMS platforms, including legacy Trend and standalone control systems. The facilities team had no centralised visibility across campuses and relied on site-by-site management, manual scheduling and reactive maintenance. Energy costs were escalating across the portfolio, and a unified smart campus solution was required to improve operational efficiency, reduce energy consumption and support sustainability commitments.
Our Solution
Synchronous Building Automation delivered a phased migration program across multiple campuses, bringing buildings onto the Niagara Framework N4 platform. We installed Distech Controls ECLYPSE controllers in buildings requiring hardware upgrades and integrated existing systems via BACnet and Modbus gateways. A centralised Niagara Supervisor provides the facilities team with a single web-based interface for monitoring, scheduling, trending and alarm management across all campuses. Janitza sub-meters were installed at distribution board level for campus-level energy allocation and reporting. Sync Edge Gateways stream real-time data to the analytics platform for ongoing optimisation and benchmarking across the portfolio.
